Private Voice Lesson Policies
In order to ensure a fun and productive semester, please review the following lesson policies. Parents of students 10 years and older are encouraged to review the Cancellation Policy, Tardiness Policy, and Practicing sections with their children. Private voice lessons are available to ages 10 & up only. Please explore our other classes for students under the age of 10.
Tuition for the semester may be paid in full at the beginning of the semester or on a monthly basis with acknowledgment that lessons will continue for the duration of the given semester. All monthly tuition bills must be paid in full on the first Lesson of each month. Specific course materials may result in additional fees i.e. an accompanist, music books, loss of repertoire book, etc.
Choose a time in which you feel confident that the student can reliably attend lessons. Please understand you are reserving an exclusive weekly time in our schedule whether or not you utilize it.
-Cancelations are accepted without penalty if notification occurs by 10am day of. If cancelation occurs after 10am day of, or if the student is a no call no show, the lesson will not be eligible for rescheduling.
-Students may make up lessons within the month in which they are missed. Make-up lessons do not roll-over. It is the responsibility of the student to schedule make-up lessons.
-There are no refunds.
-Exceptions: please come to us with your extenuating circumstances. However, lessons missed due to academic workload, last-minute vacations, school trips, sports, rehearsals, outside events, etc. do not qualify for exemption from these policies.
-Any absences on the part of the instructor will always be made up or credited to the student’s account.
Students arriving late to lessons cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time.
Parents dropping off students, please be mindful of picking up your child promptly at the end of their lesson time.
Please appreciate that your timeliness directly impacts the lessons of your fellow students.
To ensure students make weekly progress we recommend at least 20 minutes of focused, daily practice. Repetition is key to good singing technique, and with good practice habits, students will amaze themselves with their improvement. Students are to keep all music organized in a 3-ring binder hereby referred to as a repertoire book or rep book.
Students are responsible for bringing their rep book to each lesson. Music is hand selected for each student and may not be readily available to the teacher. When music is given, the student is expected to have the song lyrics memorized for the following lesson.
Students are expected to keep a practice log in order to keep both parents and teachers informed about the work they are doing.
As musicians, we express ourselves and share our art through performance. Recitals are therefore a vital part of the learning process, as well as a fun and exciting opportunity to showcase the growth and improvement that has been made over the course of the semester!
Each semester will conclude with a recital (except for the short summer semester), in which students are expected to participate. Students must maintain lessons and practice on a regular basis in order to participate in studio recitals.
